Lookalikes & traps
Promo stamps and prerelease marks sit beside Core Set 2020 Promos art. Confirm the promo set code rather than assuming booster-pack PM20. Also watch foil vs nonfoil: sheen does not change which set Core Set 2020 Promos is.
Confirm after the icon
Bottom information line should show collector number + set code PM20 (and usually a C/U/R/M rarity letter). On Core Set / Promos, mismatch between listing title and PM20 is the usual bait-and-switch.
How to identify Core Set 2020 Promos cards
- 1
Start with the Core Set 2020 Promos glyph silhouette; art style alone will not separate this promo product from guests and remasters.
- 2
Use symbol color for draft rarity on PM20, then treat showcase/borderless as a separate finish check.
- 3
Confirm set code PM20 and the collector number on the information line under the text box.
- 4
Finish with a Tappr scan when Core Set / Promos appears under multiple set codes in the same lot.
Rarity by symbol color
Special product (promo): rarity color may still follow modern conventions when a symbol is present, but SKU/treatment beats draft-rarity folklore. Verify PM20 and the collector number before comparing to a main-set printing of Core Set.
Legend shows the modern post-Exodus palette. Pre-Exodus sets and special rarities (for example Time Spiral purple timeshifted) follow the rarity reading above — not this swatch row alone.
