Hammer Time: One Swing Is Enough
Cheat a Colossus Hammer onto any creature for a lethal swing out of nowhere.

Strategy
Hammer Time attaches Colossus Hammer to a creature for free using Sigarda's Aid or Puresteel Paladin, turning almost any body into a double-strike threat swinging for twenty or more damage. Stoneforge Mystic tutors up the Hammer and puts it directly into play, letting the deck assemble a lethal attack as early as turn two or three while a small package of cheap disruption buys enough time to connect.
Strengths
- ✓ Extremely explosive — often wins by turn three or four
- ✓ Colossus Hammer alone can end games out of nowhere
- ✓ Low overall curve makes draws consistent
Weaknesses
- ✗ A single removal spell on the equipped creature can blow out the whole turn
- ✗ Vulnerable to artifact and enchantment removal on the Hammer itself
- ✗ Struggles if it falls behind on board before assembling the combo

Common questions
01 How is a 20/20 double strike creature actually cast for free?
Colossus Hammer's own equip cost is prohibitively expensive, but Sigarda's Aid and Puresteel Paladin both let the deck attach it for free, so the mana cost barrier never actually applies.
02 Is Hammer Time a good deck for new Modern players?
It has a fairly linear plan, but knowing when to hold up mana for Sigarda's Aid versus deploying threats takes some practice, so it sits at a medium difficulty.
