Lookalikes & traps
Masterpiece / premium sheets reuse famous characters. Treat ZNE as its own SKU — never 1:1 with the main-set printing of Zendikar Rising Expeditions / Ancient Tomb. Also watch foil vs nonfoil: sheen does not change which set Zendikar Rising Expeditions is.
Confirm after the icon
Bottom information line should show collector number + set code ZNE (and usually a C/U/R/M rarity letter). On Zendikar Rising Expeditions / Ancient Tomb, mismatch between listing title and ZNE is the usual bait-and-switch.
How to identify Zendikar Rising Expeditions cards
- 1
Start with the Zendikar Rising Expeditions glyph silhouette; art style alone will not separate this masterpiece product from guests and remasters.
- 2
Use symbol color for draft rarity on ZNE, then treat showcase/borderless as a separate finish check.
- 3
Confirm set code ZNE and the collector number on the information line under the text box.
- 4
Finish with a Tappr scan when Zendikar Rising Expeditions / Ancient Tomb appears under multiple set codes in the same lot.
Rarity by symbol color
Special product (masterpiece): rarity color may still follow modern conventions when a symbol is present, but SKU/treatment beats draft-rarity folklore. Verify ZNE and the collector number before comparing to a main-set printing of Zendikar Rising Expeditions.
Legend shows the modern post-Exodus palette. Pre-Exodus sets and special rarities (for example Time Spiral purple timeshifted) follow the rarity reading above — not this swatch row alone.
